Hong Kong Boosts I&T with New Institute and GBA Collaboration
The Chief Executive announced a series of measures to promote Hong Kong’s innovation and technology (I&T) development in the 2023 Policy Address, including establishing the MRDI within 2024 to spearhead and facilitate collaboration among universities, R&D centres and the industry, which would include exploring the third‑generation semiconductor core technology, strengthening the industrial chain cooperation model combining Hong Kong’s small-scale trial production and mass production in Mainland cities in the GBA, assisting enterprises in the GBA in making full use of Hong Kong’s network channels to connect to the international market, and promoting the GBA to become a high-end leader in world-class industrial chains.
