MRDI was incorporated in June 2024. As a newly established research and development (“R&D”) centre funded by The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, MRDI is committed to the highest standards of corporate governance in the interest of its stakeholders and, in general, the people of Hong Kong.

MRDI is tasked to fulfil its public mission and utilise resources effectively to conduct R&D activities. Given the importance of the role and functions of MRDI, it is essential to set up an effective governance structure and corporate culture to protect public interest.

There is a two-tier system for monitoring the operation of MRDI：

The first tier is an independent Board of Directors, which will be responsible for strategic matters and ascertaining its good governance.

The second tier involves a Chief Executive Officer with excellent leadership, who leads his/her team to handle daily operations under a sound organisational governance system.
